What is CIC?
Clean Intermittent Catheterization (CIC) is widely used to enable people with urinary problems to empty their bladder regularly, safely and conveniently. A thin, flexible catheter is guided through the urethra and into the bladder. The bladder is drained and the catheter is slowly withdrawn. CIC can be used either on a temporary basis, while an underlying problem is treated, or permanently. CIC allows you to regain control of your bladder, even though natural urination is not possible.
