When you and your child visit the doctor, it can be a good idea to mention that your child uses LoFric, especially if your child needs to leave a urine sample. The higher urine bacteria level that is natural for people who perform intermittent catheterization could otherwise easily be mistaken for a UTI and treated unnecessarily.
Healthcare professionals may have access to less current information about catheterization than you and your child do. If your child is hospitalized and unable to perform self-catheterization, you should inform the hospital staff, so that he/she is able to empty his/her bladder.
