People have two kidneys and their task is to cleanse the blood from waste and impurities.
The kidneys are located far inside the abdomen, almost by the back, on either sida of the spine. If you are experiencing back pains, it could be due to kidney problems.
The kidneys are made up of millions of very fine blood vessels which make it possible to clean the blood. These blood vessels become a sort of filter that catches waste. The cleansing itself is performed when the blood is on its way from the heart out into the body. On its way back to the heart, your blood does not pass through the kidneys.
All the waste that is filtered out by the kidneys is mixed with liquid and becomes urine, which we get rid of by urinating. From the kidneys, two narrow pipes run to the bladder, where the urine is collected before it leaves the body.
